Romeoville Woman Dies In One-Vehicle Crash

A Romeoville woman died early Sunday morning in a one-vehicle crash in Palos Heights. The driver was identified as Jennifer Devincent, 27.

PALOS HEIGHTS, IL — A Romeoville woman died early Sunday morning in a single vehicle crash in Palos Heights. The driver was identified as Jennifer Devincent, 27, by the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office.

Around 3:40 p.m., Palos Heights police came upon a 2015 Chevy Equinox that had crashed into a large tree in the 7300 block of College Drive. Officers observed extensive front end damage to the vehicle. Initially, officers were unable to see if anyone was inside the SUV. The Palos Heights Fire Department pulled the vehicle apart with extrication tools, where they found the driver unconscious with traumatic injuries.

The driver was extricated from the car and transported to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, where she was pronounced deceased. Deputy Chief Bill Czajkowski, of the Palos Heights Police Department, said data from the vehicle’s black box indicated the Equinox was traveling 50 mph when it veered off the road and hit a tree.

The results of the autopsy are pending. Police are waiting for a toxicology report, which could take several weeks.
