Students Get Look at Digital Learning Tools

The hope is to determine which tools are the most effective so they can be brought into the classroom.

Thanks to the Instructional Technology team in Valley View School District 365U, students at Tibbott Elementary School and Lukancic Middle School Wednesday received a preview of digital learning tools of the future.

The MakerSpace tools included demonstrations of how software, electronics, 3D printers, crafts and other tools can be used in the classroom to create, invent and learn.

The hope is to determine which tools are the most effective so the VVSD Technology Department can help bring the tools into every VVSD school and classroom.

Among the tools at Tibbott and Lukancic were: Google Cardboard, MaKey MaKey, Ozobot, a Paper Rollercoaster, Pocket Catapults and much more.

Wednesday was Digital Learning Day across the country. Digital Learning Day, organized by the Center for Digital Learning & Policy, is designed to provide a powerful venue for education leaders to highlight great teaching practices and showcase innovative teachers, leaders and instructional technology programs that are improving student outcomes. The Center for Digital Learning & Policy is a division of the Alliance for Excellent Education.
