Suspect Arrested In Lewis University Robbery, Aggravated Battery
A suspect was taken into custody Monday in connection with the Oct. 17 incident.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Nearly two months after a robbery and aggravated battery at the Lewis University campus, a suspect is in custody. Lewis University police sent an alert to students saying a suspect has been charged with three felonies — robbery, theft and aggravated battery — in connection with the Oct. 17 incident.
Lewis University police said they led the investigation with assistance from the Romeoville Police Department.
“We’re grateful to the students who came forward after we notified the community of this incident," James Montanari, chief of police for LUPD, said in a community alert. "Their information combined with video surveillance and excellent investigative work by our LUPD officers resulted in a successful investigation and apprehension of this suspect."

"Although it has been more than three years since a robbery of personal property has been reported on the Romeoville campus, students are reminded to walk with others or consider using the LUPD escort service, which is available 24 hours a day," police said. The email also urged students to use the Silent Witness program, which allows community members to submit a report about a criminal or public safety concern.
Lewis police did not give any details of the Oct. 17 robbery in the alert, sent Monday evening. Check back with Patch for updates.
