"It's that reason, her excellent work in teaching our young people to be the police, why we believe she's going to be a very good sergeant," Kroll said.
Romeoville officer Matthew Bejgrowicz was also promoted to commander.
Kroll said Bejgrowicz came to the department in 2002, and is a Lincoln-Way High School graduate and a United States Marine.
"Most recently, Matthew has been instrumental in getting Romeoville police officers trained in jiu jitsu," Kroll said. More than 20 Romeoville officers are now trained in jiu jitsu, and Romeoville serves as a training hub for other departments.
"Everyone we've had up tonight is a part of our family," Mayor John Noak said. "We're lucky to have all of them working for us."
