Tom Concannon, American Legion Post 52 Win Volunteer of the Year Award
Village of Romeoville will present awards annually

We recognized Tom Concannon as the 2023 Volunteer of the Year and American Legion Post 52 as the 2023 Service Organization of the Year at last night’s Village Board Meeting. These awards will be presented annually to recognize those who have dedicated time and shown exuberant volunteerism in the previous year.
Tom, a Romeoville resident for 52 years and a former Marine, is a great choice for his 43 years with the Hampton Park Social Athletic Club and his involvement in community events like park parties, RomeoFest, annual parades, National Night Out, and many others. He has taken a leadership role in organizing the RomeoFest Beer Garden, which the HPSAC runs in cooperation with the Village every year and has been on the Scholarship Committee for 12 years, which sells thousands of dollars worth of raffle tickets yearly to raise funds for scholarships for high school seniors.
The American Legion has, for many years, contributed to the Veterans Day and Memorial Day events, State of the Village, and offers flag disposal to our residents. Every Thursday they help at the food pantry and are always willing to assist a fellow veteran that needs assistance around the house. They continue to provide dedicated service to our community. When asked about it, Bob Millar, head of Post 52, said “Service is in our makeup. We’re used to helping each other out from being in the service and we just carry it on to everyday life.” Anything the Village does, you can expect to see the American Legion Post 52 there.
