Total Solar Eclipse Event Slated For Romeoville Library

Grab your eclipse glasses and head to the White Oak Library to see the solar event.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — Illinois residents will have the best (and longest) view for a once-in-a-lifetime event: A total solar eclipse will happen shortly after 1 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21. While the optimal spot for viewing is in and around Carbondale, you'll be able to see the eclipse without ever leaving Will County. And the White Oak Library is inviting residents to attend the "NASA's 'Eclipse Across America'" program, slated for 10:45 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 21 at its Romeoville branch, 201 W. Normantown Road.

"NASA’s program starts at 10:45 am and will include images captured by spacecraft, NASA aircraft, high-altitude balloons, and the astronauts aboard the International Space Station," the library said in a news release. "Here in Romeoville we will see a partial eclipse that will peak at 1:19 pm. We’ll have a limited
number of eclipse glasses available to safely view the event outside."

The event will take place in Meeting Room A at the library.
