Townhome Damaged In Fire Monday In Romeoville: Lockport Fire District
The residents of the home were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — A townhome was damaged during a fire in Romeoville on Monday, according to the Lockport Township Fire Protection District.
The fire was reported at 5:38 p.m. Monday in the 200 block of Oak Creek Lane. Firefighters arrived to find a fire in the attached garage of the home, which was going up the outside of the home and involving multiple vehicles, according to the fire district.
The unit was part of a 4-unit townhome complex. Damage was primarily contained to one unit, with light smoke affected the adjacent unit, according to the fire district.

The fire was quickly controlled by crews, and primary and secondary searches, as well as overhaul and checking for fire extension were completed by additional crews, the fire district said.
The residents of the home were able to safely evacuate before firefighters arrived. The residents will not be able to stay in the home due to fire and smoke damage, and the Red Cross was assisting with relocating, the fire district said.

The cause of the fire appears to be accidental but is being investigated by the Lockport Fire Investigators, with the assistance from members of the Romeoville Fire Investigators.
