Valley View Forums to Talk Child Sex Abuse, Healthy Relationships

All forums will be held Jan. 27 at either the Bolingbrook Community Center or Lukancic Middle School

The Valley View School District will be holding community forums Jan. 27 for parents of elementary, middle school and high school students.

For elementary school parents, a forum on preventing child sexual abuse will be held at 9 a.m. at the Bolingbrook Community Center, located at 201 Canterbury Lane and at 7 p.m. at Lukancic Middle School, located at 725 Normantown Road in Romeoville.

Parents and community members will learn to recognize signs of abuse and what to do about it, as well as details about presentations that will be made to VVSD elementary school students.

For middle and high school parents, a forum will be held on helping teens build healthy relationships. The forums will be held at 11 a.m. at the Bolingbrook Community Center, located at 201 Canterbury Lane and at 7 p.m. at Lukancic Middle School, located at 725 Normantown Road in Romeoville.

Among the talking points are determining the components of healthy relationships, dating violence and danger signs and the curriculum taught in health classes.
