Village Marks Anniversaries For King Elementary, Golden Age Club

Irene King school marked 50 years, while the Golden Age Club turned 40.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — The latest Romeoville Village Board meeting on Sept. 5 took on a celebratory tone as two great community members were recognized for their longevity. Irene King Elementary School, formerly called Ridge View Elementary, recently celebrated its 50th anniversary.

In August, the school held a celebration, inviting back alumni and members of the community to join them for tours of the school, a parade, a touch a truck event, and free food including cake and ice cream.

Also celebrating during the evening was the Golden Age Club. The group, which meets at the Recreation Center, was recognized for 40 years of activities and fun for those over 50.
