White Oak Library District Wins Yalsa Teen Tech Week Grant
White Oak Library District Wins Yalsa Teen Tech Week Grant to create a Maker Cart.

The White Oak Library District is pleased to announce that in celebration of Teen Tech Week (March 5-11, 2017), we will be launching new “Maker Carts” at the Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville branches. We will also have Teen Tech Week programs at each library branch to debut the new “Maker Carts.”
The “Maker Carts” are wire shelving carts stocked with STEM-themed kits that teens may complete in the library and take home. Also included are robots to play with, such as Ozobots and Makey Makey. And finally, a tablet will be housed on each cart, with STEM-themed apps (including some that aid interaction with the robots). These carts will be permanent installations at all library branches, located in the Teen Room.
During Teen Tech Week, the Crest Hill, Lockport, and Romeoville branches will each have an event to launch our new “Maker Carts.” These events will take place during our Teen Advisory Group (TAG) meetings. At these events, we will show the features of the “Maker Carts” and each attendee will be able to complete a kit to take home.
