Will Co. Sheriff's Office Warns of Phone Scam
Residents may receive a call saying there's been an arrest warrant issued for them.

The Will County Sheriff’s Office is warning people not to fall victim to a phone scam that’s been going around.
According to a release from the office, some residents have received phone calls from people identifying themselves as detectives and saying a warrant has been issued from the IRS for their arrest. The scammer then gives the phone number of a person who will tell them how much money they need to send to a certain address to take care of the arrest warrant.
This type of scam is commonly known as caller ID spoofing, according to the sheriff’s office. A caller ID display will show a phone number which is different from that of the phone from which the call was actually placed. Some people may see the number show up as being from the Will County Sheriff’s Office.
