Suspect In Custody, No Charge Yet In Romeoville Murder

Romeoville officials said state police took the suspect into custody on a warrant for parole violation.

ROMEOVILLE, IL — As a suspect sits in jail in Madison County, Romeoville police continue to investigate the death of a 42-year-old woman found dead outside a warehouse in the 1800 block of Normantown Road early Monday. The suspect, currently being held on a warrant for parole violation, has yet to be charged in the woman's murder, according to local police.

Romeoville police said officers responding to a report of a semi-truck with its windows broken out at around 1:30 a.m. Monday met with the truck's owner, who said the damage was the result of a domestic dispute. While investigating the damaged semi, officers canvassed the parking lot of a nearby warehouse and found the body of a woman lying in the grass adjacent to the parking lot.

The woman was identified as Jennifer Underhill of Rochelle, Illinois. Rochelle is located about 80 miles west of Chicago in Ogle County.

Romeoville authorities told Patch they believe the domestic incident involving the truck windows is connected to Underhill's death.

On Monday night, a suspect in Underhill's murder was taken into custody by Illinois State Police in Madison County, Illinois. Romeoville police said the suspect is currently being held on a parole violation warrant and has not yet been charged with the murder.

Romeoville police said the murder is believed to have been an isolated incident and that there is no danger to the community.

The Will County Coroner's office said an autopsy was performed Monday, revealing Underhill died of multiple blunt-force traumatic injuries from an assault.
