• Missing Chicago child reunited with mother after false kidnapping claim (mystateline.com) — Rosemont police confirmed that an early-Monday report of a child being thrown from a vehicle near the Loews Chicago O’Hare Hotel was unfounded, and no kidnapping occurred. A missing Chicago juvenile had arrived via airport shuttle, made false claims about an abduction, and was later safely reunited with his mother after officers reviewed surveillance footage and coordinated with Chicago police.

• Brother of Rosemont mayor, the chairman of Triton College, arrested on felony drug charge (dailyherald.com) — Rosemont residents may want to know that Mark Stephens, brother of Mayor Bradley Stephens and longtime chairman of Triton College’s board, faces a felony cocaine possession charge after a July traffic stop. Police say they found cocaine in a dropped pill bottle and cited him for cannabis possession and speeding; a Rosemont spokesperson says the mayor hopes he gets needed help.

• Movers of Series 3: Team Klingler Stars Rise to the Top (oursportscentral.com) — Professional softball fans in Rosemont can catch the Athletes Unlimited Softball League’s All-Star Cup finale starting Friday, Aug. 28 at the local ballpark. With just one series left, several Team Klingler standouts have surged up the leaderboard, setting up a tight race for the individual championship as new teams are drafted and tickets remain on sale for the closing weekend.
