• Former UI police officer convicted of sexual assault (news-gazette.com) — A former University of Illinois police officer who lived in Savoy has been convicted of sexually assaulting a woman who was temporarily staying in the same Savoy apartment complex. Jurors heard how the pair met at a concert, went to a bar in Philo, and later returned to Savoy, where the woman says she became unexpectedly sedated and awoke to nonconsensual sexual acts. Several other related cases against him are still pending.
