• Beloved nurse and mom allegedly sexually assaulted and killed by ex-boyfriend in hours-long, recorded attack (nypost.com) — Schaumburg police discovered a 43-year-old nurse dead in her Schaumburg home after a welfare check, and her ex-boyfriend is now charged with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault. Authorities say a disturbing hours-long audio recording captured the assault and strangling, and the suspect, who has a prior domestic violence history, is being held without bail ahead of a May 29 court date. 
• Mokena PD Hiring Entry Level Officers (patch.com) — Mokena police are hiring new entry-level officers, and all completed applications must be mailed or delivered to the COPS and FIRE Testing Service office on Plum Grove Road in Schaumburg. Applicants must meet age, education, and residency requirements, attend a written exam in Mokena on June 27, and submit their packets by the June 10 deadline.
