1 Dead, 3 Rescued After Boating Incident in Wilmington
Morris man pronounced dead early Wednesday after canoe accident at the Des Plaines Conservation Area on the Kankakee River.
A 20-year-old Morris man was pronounced dead early Wednesday after divers pulled him from the Kankakee River at the Des Plaines Conservation Area in Wilmington, the Will County Coroner reported.
The coroner identified the man as Dean Fredericks.
Three other victims of the apparent boating accident were rescued, but the 20-year-old was reportedly missing as emergency crews continued to search the river with a sonar-equipped boat, according to Northern Illinois FireGround Photos.
The coroner's office reported that the man was pronounced dead at 1:10 a.m.
Conservation police are investigating the incident.
