1 Thumb Down--Channahon Man Suffered 'Serious' Thumb Injury in Crossbow Accident: Lawsuit
The Channahon man is suing the crossbow company and the store where he says he bought the weapon.

A Channahon man suffered a “serious” injury to his thumb when he shot a crossbow, according to a lawsuit filed in Will County court.
Kurt Liebermann hurt his thumb two years and one day ago. He is suing both the Florida company Barnett Crossbows and the Michigan store where he allegedly bought his crossbow, Tackle Haven.
The crossbow in question, named the Barnett Penetrator, lacked “any type of safety guard to protect the user’s digits … from coming in contact with the crossbow’s string as it travels forward,” the lawsuit said.

When Liebermann “pulled the trigger in a reasonably foreseeable manner, the string traveled forward striking (his) thumb, causing serious personal and permanent injuries to his person.”
The lawsuit does not specify the extent of Liebermann’s thumb injury but said the Penetrator’s “high velocity string” was capable of causing “serious bodily harm, including severing, maiming, disfiguring and otherwise permanently injuring digits.”
