2.5-Ton Troop Carrier Recovered at West Chicago Walgreens
A soldier had taken the vehicle from an Army Reserve Training Center in Elwood after he got into a fight with another soldier.

The armored troop carrier that was taken Sunday from an Army Reserve Training Center in Elwood has been recovered, according to Elwood Police Chief Fred Hayes A previous report said the training center was in Wilmington.
Military officials called the Elwood Police Department to report that a soldier had the left the training center in a 2013 Oshkosh military transport vehicle at around 11:34 a.m. Sunday.
“This is a two-and-a-half ton, partially armored transport vehicle,” Hayes said.

DuPage County sheriff’s deputies later located the soldier and the vehicle at around 2 p.m. Sunday in a Walgreens parking lot at Route 59 and Washington in West Chicago, Hayes said. The soldier was in the vehicle at the time.
The West Chicago soldier had gotten into an argument with another soldier and left in the vehicle. He was not armed and there were no weapons in the vehicle at the time.

“At no time were any members of the public in any type of danger,” Hayes said.
Hayes said the soldier will not be charged, but will probably face some sort of disciplinary action.
A Walgreens manager in West Chicago told the Tribune the soldier was dressed in camouflage clothing and was polite and greeted employees in the store.
