Alleged Getaway Driver Gives Police Twin Brother's Information

SHOREWOOD, IL — A 29-year-old man used his twin brother’s identity when he was pulled over by police for allegedly being the getaway driver for a shoplifter.

It all began when Tracy G. Paschen, of the 1000 block of Mayfield Lane n Hoffman Estates, attempted to leave the Brookforest Ave. Target in Shorewood with two pairs of panties and four $100 smoke detectors tucked into a large purse, Shorewood Deputy Chief Eric Allen told The Herald-News.

Although she was stopped by store security and played tug-of-war with the person, she reportedly ran off into a waiting car after dropping the bag.

Once police pulled the car over, the driver, Jacob Guerrero, allegedly gave police a name that had no criminal record. But officers became suspicious of that after Guerrero reportedly fell asleep in the police station’s interview room after just a few minutes - not something that’s likely to happen for a first-time offender. Police confirmed their suspicions after checking his fingerprints.

Paschen was charged with shoplifting and Guerrero was charged with obstructing identification.

A phone message left with the Shorewood Police Department was not immediately returned.
