AVAC Students at JTHS Receive Generous Donation from Waste Management

School recycling took on a new look for students in the Joliet Township High School AVAC program thanks to the donation of four new recycling bins provided by Waste Management.

As part of the curriculum, students in the AVAC program collect recycling throughout the school to work on vocational skills. As the previous recycling bins were starting to age, AVAC teacher Shelley Clark wrote to Waste Management to see if they could help provide new ones.

“Shelley really stepped up on her own time to make sure that our students have the best materials to complete a recycling program that is extremely important for our students as they develop specific vocational skills that will help make a successful transition after high school,” said JTHS AVAC teacher Matthew Kennedy.

Clark expressed her thanks for the donation.  “The AVAC program would like to thank Waste Management for donating recycling bins to Joliet Central High School. These bins will allow students to perform their school recycling jobs more effectively and efficiently,” said Clark. “Special thanks go out to Shaw Perkin, Lisa Lorenz and Will Austin and the entire Waste Management staff for their support in our endeavors. Through your generosity, we can make Joliet Central a better place together.”
