Avoid Route 52 Around Shorewood Because Of Road Repairs, Police Warn

Traffic congestion is expected from Joliet's Houbolt Road all through the village of Shorewood.

SHOREWOOD, IL - If you've driven through Shorewood as of late, you've noticed plenty of orange construction barrels at various spots near the intersection of River Road and at the bridge over the DuPage River. But starting Thursday, the Shorewood Police Department expects traffic snarls may become a lot more problematic along Route 52. Shorewood police posted an advisory warning on Facebook warning area motorists of possible traffic congestion all the way from Wynstone Drive in Shorewood to Joliet's Houbolt Road.

"Grinding is expected to last through the weekend with patching and resurfacing through next week," Shorewood police are telling motorists.

Motorists should take alternative routes or be prepared for traffic congestion delays that may last several minutes.
