Holy Family 5th Graders Attend Cathedral Days

On February 19th, Holy Family 5th graders and 5th graders from three other Diocesan schools were fortunate to attend Cathedral Days at the Cathedral of St. Raymond in Joliet.  Many interesting facts about the five Diocesan Bishops along with the history of the Joliet Diocese from 1948 until today were shared in a two hour presentation by Fr. Paul, who has been delivering this talk for 23 years.  Information presented about the various relics, the saints, the bishop's chair, and even the explanation about the beautiful windows, taught the students and parent chaperones a great deal.  Additionally, they learned how the church was built, where the marble came from, and the reason that St. Raymond is called St. Raymond the Unborn, and why he had holes in his lips.  The children were impressed with the relics in the altar and the details about how the cross was cleaned.  After lunch, a youth minister led everyone in song and prayer.  The day succeeded in deepening the students' understanding of Jesus and educating them about the Diocese of Joliet.
