Joliet Man Caught Sneak Thief Breaking Into Mom's Car, Chased Him Til Cops Arrived: Police

A police officer reportedly tackled the prowler and placed him under arrest.

A Joliet man caught a sneak thief while the crook was in the middle of looting his mother’s car, then chased him until the cops showed up to take him into custody.

Kyle Scheuerlein, 22, of Shorewood managed to elude the woman’s 37-year-old son but was tackled by a cop who happened to pull up as he was running away.

The son noticed Scheuerlein inside his mother’s car, which was parked on 129th Infantry Drive, shortly before midnight Tuesday. Scheuerlein made a break for it and reached the park at the corner of Facel Vega and Reardon drives, police said.

A police officer reportedly heard shouting coming from the park, turned on his spotlight and saw the sprinting Scheuerlein. The officer took up the chase as well and tackled Scheuerlein in the park, police said.

Scheuerlein struggled with the officer and after he was finally subdued complained that his penis hurt, police said. He was taken to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center but while he was at the hospital he allegedly spat on staff. Officers put Scheuerlein in a spit hood and then took him to the Will County jail.
