Teens Viciously Beat Man in Random Attack on Joliet Street: Police
The two teens were carted off to juvenile jail.

Two teens viciously beat a man in a random attack on a Joliet Street Sunday night, police said.
Officers reportedly found the injured 21-year-old man down on the sidewalk and bleeding from his mouth near the corner of Marion and Prairie streets.
The man reportedly told police he was walking from the Dollar General store on West Jefferson Street when he was approached by two youths. One of the teens asked for a light, and when the man produced a cigarette lighter, the teen suddenly punched him in the face, police said. The other teen then jumped in and battered the man as well.

Bystanders reportedly told police which way the teens went and one witness was able to lead officers to the South William Street house they headed into.
The officers found two 17-year-olds in the house and the beaten man identified them as his attackers, police said. The teens were charged with aggravated battery and taken to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center.

The man refused an ambulance ride to Presence St. Joseph Medical Center but told officers he was going to drive himself to the hospital.
