Joliet Motorcyclist Drove 120 MPH In Shorewood: Complaint

Nicholas Giocolo's father later came up with $10,000 to get his son out of Will County's jail.

SHOREWOOD, IL - Nicholas Giocolo, the 23-year-old Joliet man who ended up in the Will County jail two weeks ago after trying to evade a Shorewood police car, was initially clocked for speeding 120 mph in a 35 mph zone, court documents at the Will County Courthouse show. At 3:28 p.m. Aug. 3o, Giocolo was riding his black 2017 Yamaha motorcycle northbound on Northeast Frontage Road near Terrance Ferry Drive.

Court records reflect that a Shorewood police officer turned on his sirens and flashing lights giving chase, but Giocolo kept on speeding, trying to get away from Squad 74. Eventually, Giocolo was taken into custody. A judge set a $100,000 bond for the Joliet resident who lives in the 3500 block of Harris Drive. Since Giocolo's detention, his father came up with $10,000, or 10 percent, to bail his son out of the Will County jail.

Giocolo now faces felony counts of aggravated driving by fleeing a police officer and aggravated driving by going more than 21 mph over the speed limit during a police pursuit.
