A Shorewood man faces numerous charges after allegedly attempting to flee the scene — reportedly while trying to drag another driver — after a crash in Joliet.

Michael S. Hall, 27, of the 900 block of Summit Creek Drive also had two children, ages 8 and 6, with him at the time of the crash Thursday night near Jefferson and Raynor in Joliet, police said.

Capt. Tab Jensen said the crash occurred at about 10:20 p.m. when a vehicle in the left-hand turn lane from Raynor Avenue to Jefferson Street was rear-ended by Hall’s blue Jeep Cherokee. The impact pushed the victim’s vehicle into another car also in the turn lane, police said.

Following the crash, one of the victims reportedly got out of his car and went to check on Hall and his passengers. That’s when police said Hall reportedly grabbed the victim’s arm before putting the Jeep into reverse as he attempted to flee the scene.

The victim was able to pull his arm free and wasn’t injured, but police said Hall was unable to get away. Instead, the Jeep Cherokee got hung up on a median, where police found it when they arrived, according to Jensen.

No one was injured in the crash, but Hall wound up charged with aggravated DUI, DUI, battery, obstruction of justice, leaving the scene of a crash and failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident, according to jail records.

Hall was also charged with two counts of child restraint violation because both children were unrestrained when police arrived on the scene, Jensen said.

Hall was booked into the Will County jail, where he remained on $10,000 bond on Monday afternoon.
