New To Route 59: Raising Canes Announces Grand Opening Date
Several thousand people drove to the demolished Diamand's Family Restaurant site on March 8. Now, a second Raising Cane's is ready to open.

SHOREWOOD, IL — It's been 11 months since Joliet Patch broke the news that the vacant PNC Bank on Route 59 was going to be demolished to make way for the Joliet area's second Raising Canes chicken fingers restaurant. Originally set to open in August, Shorewood's new Raising Canes will celebrate its grand opening two weeks from today, on Oct. 18.
The opening celebration will take place at 8:30 a.m. When Joliet Patch covered the grand opening for the first Raising Canes in Joliet, on March 8, approximately 4,000 hungry people were expected to visit the new Plainfield Road double drive-thru restaurant that particular day.
Raising Cane’s considers itself a quick serve restaurant, founded in 1996 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, by Todd Graves, according to documents provided to Shorewood by the company.

"The restaurant has one love, which is chicken, as evident by the minimal menu that includes: chicken fingers, fries, coleslaw and Texas toast," the documents state.
