Christine Karales, (nee Gargas), age 92, of Shorewood, passed away peacefully, Tuesday, November 28, 2023 at home, with her loving family by her side.

Born September 8, 1931, in Greece, she was the daughter of Frank and Jamie Gargas. She worked in various positions for Dominick’s Grocery Store and Sam’s Club. She was also a member of All Saints Greek Orthodox Church.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, William James Karales (September 2, 1990); her parents; and three sisters.
Surviving are her children, Irene (Edward) Lockwood of South Carolina, Mary Karales of Connecticut, and James Karales of Shorewood; her grandchildren, Theodora and Tabitha; and her great-grandchildren, Logan and Brendan.
Visitation for Christine Karales will be held Monday, December 4, 2023, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m., with Trisagion services at 6:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 5, 2023, at 9:00 a.m., from the funeral home to All Saints Greek Orthodox Church for services at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Memorial Park.
