A talented woodworker with a zest for life passes away at the age of 54.

Jeffery J. Lapikas
Jeffrey J. Lapikas, age 54 of Morris, passed away peacefully, at his home on Wednesday, March 13, 2024, with the love of his family by his side. He was born in Joliet, IL, on September 6, 1969, the only son of the late John F. and Judith (nee Ghilain) Lapikas. Jeff graduated from Joliet Catholic High School with the Class of 1987 and furthered his education by attending classes at Joliet Junior College. He was a longtime parishioner at the Church of St. Jude, where he made lifelong friends. He worked for NRG Energy Utility Company as a shift manager for the last 25 years.

In his free time, Jeff enjoyed the time he spent camping with his family and doing karaoke with his wife. He also found joy in a good game of darts or shooting pool with friends and family. Jeff was a man of many talents and woodworking was one of them. There was nothing that he could not create or build from wood. His love for his six dogs is indescribable; they truly were his best friends.
Jeff is survived by his beloved wife of 30 years, Deena (nee Haas) Lapikas; his four sons, Bobby, Troy, Dalton (Brianne), and Tyler Lapikas; grandchildren, Laila, Amara, and Parker Lapikas; his devoted canine companions, “Bandit”, “Shadow”, “Kodiak”, “Lady”, “Petey”, and “Aria”; and his granddogs, “Cash” and “Rex”. Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
Visitation for Jeffery J. Lapikas will be held on Wednesday, March 20, 2024, from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m., at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Rd.(at Essington Rd.), in Joliet. Funeral services will follow on Thursday, March 21, 2024, at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home to the Church of St. Jude, 2212 McDonough St., Joliet, where a Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
