Obituary: John W. Schneider
A longtime Plainfield resident passes away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer at the age of 65.

John W. Schneider
John W. Schneider, age 65, passed away after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer on Monday, January 22, 2024, with his family by his side. John had worked for Argonne National Laboratory for over 40 years, retiring in May 2023. John enjoyed bicycling, walking, and camping. He had been training with the hope of completing a triathlon. He also enjoyed relaxing with a puzzle. However, he most enjoyed time spent with family, particularly with his grandchildren.

John is survived by his loving wife of 41 years, Terri (nee Lavery) Schneider; his two sons, David (Tiffany) Schneider and Andrew Schneider; his grandchildren, DJ, Jason, Emilee, and Savannah; his brothers, Tom (Sandy) Schneider and Vince (Nancy) Schneider; his sisters, Carol (Bill) Malak and Barb (John) Koning; his sister-in-law, Pat (the late Ray) Toth; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Rose Schneider; his brother, Chuck Schneider; and his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Rob and Trudy Lavery.

Friends and relatives are invited to celebrate John’s life on Saturday, January 27, 2024, at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black (at Essington) Rd., Joliet, from 3 p.m. until time of service at 8 p.m. As it was his final wish, cremation rites have been accorded.
