Obituary: Lee Roy A. Boettcher

A U.S. Navy Seabee, who proudly served his country has passed away at the age of 96.

Obituary was published and funeral arrangements were entrusted to the care and direction of the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home and Crematory.

Lee Roy A. Boettcher

Lee Roy A. Boettcher, age 96, of Shorewood, Illinois, passed away Monday morning, September 25, 2023. He was born May 8, 1927, to the late Margaret and Alfred Boettcher. He was raised and educated in Lockport, IL and resided in the area most of his life. A U.S. Navy Seabee, Lee Roy served his Country proudly.

Surviving are his daughter, Gale (Terry) Freeman; son, Bill (Vicky) Boettcher; grandchildren, Jason (Vanhvilay “Bam”) Freeman, Brad (Angela) Freeman, Kelly (Terrence) O'Hern and Eric Boettcher; great-grandfather of Gabi Freeman, Dailey O' Hern, Austin Boettcher, Rilyn O'Hern, Brennen Boettcher, Carson Freeman and Paisley Boettcher; great-great grandfather of Rowan Harvey. Many nieces and nephews also survive.

Preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Charlene (nee Spangler) Boettcher; son, Michael Boettcher; grandson, Jeremy Boettcher; his parents; and siblings, Ralph Boettcher, Delores Brubeck and Joan Redding,

Lee Roy retired from Com Ed in 1987 after many years of dedicated service. He and Charlene enjoyed golfing and dancing. They wintered in Mesa, Arizona, enjoying the warm weather. His true passion was his family. He loved spending time with them. Whether a recital or sporting event, Lee Roy rarely missed an opportunity to be with his loved ones.

Visitation for Lee Roy will be Thursday, September 28, 2023, from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home 3200 Black Rd. (at Essington Rd.) Joliet. Funeral services will begin Friday morning, September 29, 2023, 9:15 am at the funeral home to the Church of St. Jude, 2212 W. McDonough St., Joliet where a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow in Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in his name can be made to Lightways Hospice of Joliet.
