Rita Jane Sula, (nee Komp), age 89, of Joliet, entered eternal life on January 8, 2024.
Born June 9, 1934, in Joliet, she was the beloved daughter of Christine (Miller) and Joseph G. Komp of Joliet, Illinois. She was educated by the Franciscan Sisters of Mary Immaculate, at St. John the Baptist School, Class of 1948, and St. Francis Academy, now JCA, Class of 1952. Rita Jane married the love of her life, Raymond R. Sula, on August 14, 1954, and they enjoyed 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on July 7, 2011.

Rita began her career with the telephone company in 1953, with Illinois Bell Telephone Company and later A.T. & T., and completed her years of service in 1984. She was promoted to Business Office Supervisor and had many other assignments retiring after 32 years of service.
She is survived by her brothers, James E. (the late Marijo) Komp of Libertyville, Illinois, and William R. (Lavonne) Komp of Waterloo, Illinois; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband, Raymond, and parents, Joseph and Christine, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn (Joseph, III) Berto, and brother, Paul J. (Esther) Komp.
Visitation for Rita will be held on Tuesday, January 16, 2024 at 10:00 a.m., until the time of her Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., at St. Paul the Apostle Church, 18 Woodlawn Avenue, Joliet, IL. Interment will follow at Resurrection Cemetery, Romeoville, IL, next to her beloved husband and parents. May she rest in peace.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in the form of masses for the repose of her soul would be appreciated.
