Obituary: Wendy Wagner-Chaffee

She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle heart, and her optimism which enabled her to always look on the brighter side of things.

Wendy Wagner-Chaffee

Wendy Wagner Chaffee, age 58, of Plainfield, passed away Tuesday, April 30, 2024 at Edward Hospital, Naperville, with her loving family by her side.

Wendy was born October 25, 1965 in Cicero, and was raised in Bolingbrook, graduating from Bolingbrook High School. She was a lifelong learner, continuing her education at Joliet Junior College, the University of Illinois, the College of DuPage, and the Art Institute of Chicago, and was the recipient of two Bachelor’s degrees. She enjoyed pursuing her career in various capacities, most recently working for Wadsworth Golf Construction Company in Plainfield.

Wendy was a loving and devoted wife who had a fun sense of humor and always knew how to make people laugh. She will be remembered for her kindness, her gentle heart, and her optimism which enabled her to always look on the brighter side of things. She was always there for her family and friends and knew how to bring out the best in people.

To know and love her was to understand that her delightful and subtle demeanor on the outside was matched by rambunctious and sometimes naughty personality on the inside fighting to get out.

Surviving are her beloved husband, Joe Chaffee; her two daughters, Zangelica and Harli (Bob); her father, Kenneth Wagner; one brother, Jeffrey (Addie) Wagner; her husband’s brothers and sisters, Kenneth Jr. (Sandy) Chaffee, James (Laura) Chaffee, Delora Belanger, John Chaffee, Michael (Kelly) Chaffee and Francis (Robin) Chaffee; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her son, Tristian Joseph Chaffee (July 6, 2020); her husband’s parents, Kenneth Louis Chaffee and Frances Pearl Chaffee; her grandparents, Veronica E. Piskac and Frank J. Piskac; an aunt, Marian Cwick; cousin, Paulie Cwick; and her husband’s grandfather, Francis Richardson.

Visitation for Wendy will be held Friday, May 3, 2024, from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Fred C. Dames Funeral Home, 3200 Black Road, Joliet. Funeral services will be held Saturday, May 4, 2024, at 10:00 a.m., at the funeral home. Interment will follow in Aux Sable Cemetery, rural Minooka.
