Police Catch Alleged Joliet Burglar in the Act

The 41-year-old man tried to run, but police arrested him after a brief foot chase and struggle.

A 41-year-old Joliet man was arrested after officers observed him breaking into a residence, according to police.

Jamie Velez-Peak, of the 1000 block of Pearson Dr., was caught breaking into a home in the 1500 block of Mayfield. When officers approached the house, he fled out the front door and was caught after a brief foot chase and struggle, according to a Joliet Police Department Facebook post.

Velez-Peak was charged with residential burglary, criminal damage to property and resisting arrest. He was taken to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.
