Ride For The Kids Is Sunday At Conrads Harley Davidson

The charity motorcycle ride for Bike Bald starts in Shorewood and ends at Sonny Acres Farms in West Chicago.

SHOREWOOD, IL - If you see dozens and dozens of motorcycles on Sunday afternoon buzzing up Route 59 between Shorewood and West Chicago with an Illinois State Police escort, they'll be riding on a mission for a good cause. The Ride for the Kids takes off at 1 p.m. from Conrads Harley Davidson, 19356 NE Frontage Road, here in Shorewood and ends at Sonny Acres Farms in West Chicago with an Oktoberfest celebration that goes until 11 p.m. Cost to participate in the charity ride is $30 per motorcycle rider and $25 for passengers. The ticket includes a T-shirt and entry into Sonny Acres Farms. The Illinois State Police will be providing an escort.

Motorcyclists can still register on Sunday. Ride for the Kids is a fund-raiser to benefit Bike Bald, a sanctioned 501C3 non-profit that helps kids battling cancer. According to Bike Bald's website, "Our goal is to offer the emotional support to children and their families having the challenge of being faced with Childhood Cancer and other life-changing serious illnesses."

A local Ride for the Kids organizer, Debbie Mossburg, told Shorewood Patch she is hoping to have around 250 motorcycle riders for Sunday's big event. This marks her group's first motorcycle charity ride starting in Shorewood. Mossburg said she's very appreciative for the support from Conrads Harley Davidson. Some of the registrants are coming from as far as Chicago and Indiana, she said. "We are a one-hundred percent local charity, and we make wishes happen."

Mossburg said Sunday's motorcycle ride starting from Shorewood will wind through Plainfield, Naperville, Warrenville and West Chicago.

"We are hoping to raise $5,000 to $6,000," she told Patch. "It's also great to have the support of the police, both Shorewood and the State Police, so we know it will be a safe ride."
