Updated With Correction: The Running Man: Drunken Shorewood Guy Tries to Flee New Lenox Cops After Parking in Middle of Road: Police

The cops caught him and put him in jail.

Correction: At 4:36 p.m. on Sept. 17, the New Lenox police reported: “Michael Kramer was not charged with DUI and he posted bond and was released.” The New Lenox police previously reported: “Kramer was under the influence and had a suspended license” and “Kramer was transported to the Will County Adult Detention Facility.”

A drunken Shorewood man parked in the middle of the road made a break for it when the cops walked up but didn’t get far, police said.

Michael Kramer, 46, of 302 Greenfield Road was arrested shortly after 8 p.m. Thursday.

An officer patrolling New Lenox spotted a “vehicle stopped in the middle of the roadway” near the corner of Haven Avenue and Pine Street, police said.

“When the officer approached the vehicle the driver got out and ran away,” police said.

“Another officer located the Driver, Kramer, and brought him back to the vehicle,” police said. “The officer discovered that Kramer was under the influence and had a suspended license.”

Kramer was charged with improperly stopping on a roadway, driving under the influence, resisting arrest, and driving while license suspended. He was taken to the Will County jail.
