SHOREWOOD, IL — Citing the interest of public safety, the village of Shorewood announced Wednesday that trick-or-treating will not occur on Halloween, which is Thursday. Instead, it will be pushed back one day to Friday. Trick-or-treating hours in Shorewood will be 4 to 7 p.m.

Shorewood officials said the forecast for Thursday afternoon calls for a high of 34 degrees. "This cold weather paired with the rain and snow that is set to arrive earlier in the day creates the potential for hazardous walking conditions.

"Friday will be warmer and dry, allowing more pleasant conditions for Halloween fun."
