SHOREWOOD, IL — A 28-year-old Shorewood man is now in the Will County Jail after Shorewood police say David Gregory threw a woman to the ground inside his house after throwing a dining room chair at her and threatening to stab her in the heart.

Gregory was booked into the Will County Jail on Monday on charges with aggravated assault and domestic battery, according to Shorewood Deputy Police Chief Eric Allen.

Monday's domestic violence happened around 1:20 p.m. at Gregory's house in the 700 block of South Raven Road, Allen said.

During an altercation in the home, Gregory threatened the woman, throwing a dining room chair at her and missing, which left a hole in the wall, according to police.

Gregory also grabbed a knife used to open envelopes, raising it into the air, Allen said. The Shorewood man grabbed the woman, dragged her to the ground and threatened to stab her in the heart, Deputy Chief Allen said.

The woman got away from Gregory, and she drove to the Shorewood Police Department for help, Allen said. By 2:05 p.m., Shorewood police located Gregory at the Speedway gas station on the north side of Black Road, and Gregory scuffled with the officers, Allen said.

"It took a few officers to arrest him," Allen told Patch.

On Tuesday, a Will County judge set bail at $10,000 for Gregory.
