The 2014 Village of Skokie street resurfacing projects are underway. The Village has four street resurfacing projects planned that encompass a total of 4.8 miles of roadway. The first street resurfacing project is completed and replaced the surface asphalt. Included in this project are the following streets:

The second street resurfacing project is also completed. The project included one-half mile of street at Main Street from Lincoln Avenue to Skokie Boulevard at an estimated cost of $570,000. This project was constructed mostly with Federal Surface Transportation Funds, which are distributed through the North Shore Council of Mayors. The Village will contribute thirty percent of the construction cost with Motor Fuel Tax funds.

The Village is using an $820,000 grant for the majority of the third street resurfacing project on Main Street from Crawford Avenue to Christiana Avenue. This project is funded primarily by a state grant from the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity. The Village was first made aware of this money in 2010 and funds became available this year. The remaining funding required for this project will be from the Village’s Local Fuel Tax. The project is underway and will be completed in October, 2014.

The fourth street resurfacing project includes 13 street sections and is funded by Local Fuel Tax funds, Community Development Block Grant funds and funds generated by vehicle sticker purchases. This project begins at the end of September and should be completed fall 2014. Included in this project are the following streets:
