21-Year-Old Woman Charged With Armed Robbery Of Skokie 7-Eleven

The Oklahoma native, wanted in Indiana for kidnapping, is accused of robbing multiple suburban stores at gunpoint with a Chicago man.

SKOKIE, IL — Just over a week after a Skokie convenience store was robbed at gunpoint last month, a man and woman were arrested in the southwest suburbs and charged with multiple armed robberies. In addition to stick-ups at two gas stations, the pair is suspected of robbing the 7-Eleven at 7950 N. Crawford Ave., although only one has so far been charged in connection with the incident. Both have been ordered held without bond at Cook County Jail.

Jamarra White, 21, is originally from Tulsa, Oklahoma, and recently lived in the 8500 block of South Cicero Avenue, according to police and prosecutors. She faces three counts of armed robbery with a firearm, a charge of aggravated unlawful use of a firearm and she is wanted in Indiana in connection with a charge of kidnapping, prosecutors said at her bond hearing.

White was arrested Aug. 21 when police in Hometown pulled over a car she was riding in with 29-year-old Derrick Crayton, a Chicago man with a lengthy criminal record. Officers discovered a 9mm handgun in the car, which White admitted was hers, according to prosecutors. Both were later charged with the armed robbery of two Oak Lawn gas stations on Aug. 6 and Aug. 20. In each case, a man and woman entered stores in the early morning armed with a handgun and wearing scarves over their faces, authorities said.

In the Skokie incident, an employee told investigators he had been working in a backroom of the store when two people – who police identified as White and an male accomplice – entered the store around 5:30 a.m. on Aug. 13, according to prosecutors.

White's accomplice grabbed a gold necklace from the neck of the clerk, snapping it off before pistol-whipping the employee with a black handgun and injuring his head. She then began stuffing Newport cigarettes into a black bag as her accomplice handed off other brands of cigarettes, prosecutors said. Skokie police said cash was also taken in the robbery.

At their bond hearings in Bridgeview, Cook County Judge Peter Felice ordered Crayton and White held without bail.

"There's no question in my mind that both of them are a danger to the community," Felice said.
