5 Stolen Cars; Shoplifter Attacks With Pepper Spray: Blotter

Incidents and arrests from the Skokie police blotter from Oct. 16 - Oct. 25

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Readers are reminded that everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt, and criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

INCIDENTS

AGGRAVATED ASSAULTS, BATTERIES

  • Between 7:20 and 7:36 p.m. on Oct. 16, a girl battered and pepper sprayed another girl in the 4300 block of Oakton Street. A
  • A shoplifter at the Old Orchard Nordstrom pepper sprayed a store staffer who tried to confront him. The man fled the scene and the stolen items were recovered.
  • An aggravated assault by a person known to police took place in the 9100 block of Niles Center Road around 8 p.m. on Oct. 18.

STOLEN CARS

  • A resident in the 4300 block of Oakton Street reported that someone took their car without permission between 7 a.m. and 4 p.m on Oct. 15.
  • Someone stole a car in the 8200 block of Monticello Avenue between 4:30 and 9 p.m. on Oct. 16.
  • Between 12:15 and 12:53 p.m. on Oct. 17, someone stole a car from the B lot of the Old Orchard Shopping Center.
  • A stolen car and residential burglary was reported between 2:24 and 8:25 a.m. on Oct. 18 in the 9600 block of Tripp Avenue.
  • Someone stole a car between midnight and 7 a.m. on Oct. 21 from the 4000 block of Harvard Terrace.

THEFT FROM MOTOR VEHICLE
Someone stole tired and chrome and black wheels from a Honda in the 7700 block of Keeler Avenue between 9 p.m. on Oct. 18 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 19.

ARMED ROBBERY
An armed robbery was reported between 5:45 and 6 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the 9400 block of Kenton Avenue.

HOME BURGLARIES

  • A resident in the 5300 block of Arcadia Street reported someone broke into their home between 4:30 and 5:15 p.m. on Oct. 20.
  • Someone broke into a home in teh

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Between 11 p.m. on Oct. 22 and 5:35 a.m. on Oct. 23 someone smashed the glass on the front door of the BP gas station, 5001 Old Orchard Road. Scratch-off lottery tickets were reported stolen.

ARRESTS

David D. Fleming, 21, of the 4900 block of West Jackson Boulevard in Chicago, was arrested around 4 p.m. on Oct. 16 and charged with retail theft at the Macy's at the Old Orchard Shopping Center.

Daniel R. Niehoff, 52, of the 9000 block of Knox Avenue in Skokie, was arrested around 10:15 a.m. on Oct. 17 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Jeff K. M. Noel, 21, of the 9300 block of Linder Avenue in Skokie, was arrested around 5 p.m. on Oct. 17 charged with trespassing at the Old Orchard Apple Store.

Mario Carmona, 21, of the 7400 block of North Ridge Boulevard in Chicago, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 18 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or above. He was also issued a speeding ticketing.

Rafael Castro, 18, of the 9900 block of Linda Lane in Des Plaines, was arrested around noon on Oct. 18 at the Macy's at the Old Orchard Shopping Center.

Julio C. Mundo, 23, of the 1900 block of Apache Road in Waukegan, was arrested around 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 19 following a traffic stop in the 5900 block of West Touhy Avenue and charged with two counts of driving under the influence of alcohol, driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and ticketed for speeding between 26 and 34 mph above the speed limit.

Davisha Traylor, 30, of the 2800 block of 58th Street in Milwaukee, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Oct. 19 at the Wheeling Police Department and charged with identity theft.

Jonathan L. Chance, 28, of the 500 block of Belvidere Road in Waukegan, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 20 in the 9900 block of Gross Point Road and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Rami J. Naisan, 23, of the 6400 block of North Mozart Street in Chicago, was arrested around 10:30 p.m. on Oct. 20 in the 7400 block of McCormick Boulevard on an in-state warrant.

Raheel M. Malik, 18, of the 6000 block of North Fairfield Avenue in Chicago, and Muhammad Talha, 18, of the 6500 block of North Francisco Avenue, were arrested around 4:15 p.m. on Oct. 22 at the Old Orchard Nordstroms and charged with retail theft.

Ivan Mercado, 37, of the 6400 block of North Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 8 a.m. on Oct. 23 in the 5000 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with DUI – alcohol and driving with a revoked license. Officers found him asleep at the wheel in a running car, mumbling and with vomit visible on him, according to prosecutors.

Lisa Ann Johnson, 52, of the 7100 block of Washtenaw Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Oct. 23 and charged with retail theft at the Walmart at 3626 Touhy Avenue.

Brittany A. Bianchini, 31, of the 6400 block of Lyons Street in Morton Grove, was arrested around 1 a.m. on Oct. 24 in the 4100 block of Grove Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.

Eric W. Lewchenko, 32, of the 4700 block of North Kewanee Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 2:21 a.m. on Oct. 21 and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration of 0.08 or more.

Tomas Hector, 33, of the 6355 block of South Kolin Avenue in Chicago was arrested at the Skokie Courthouse on the afternoon of Oct. 24 and charged with three counts of retail theft.

Amin A. Ali, 53, of the 6100 block of Lincoln Avenue in Morton Grove, was arrested around 9:15 a.m. on Oct. 25 in the 7900 block of Lamon Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of drugs.

Victor M. Mena, 21, of the 5000 block of North Albany Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 11:15 a.m. on Oct. 25 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with three counts of criminal defacement.
