2 Child Endangerment Charges; Battery Arrest At Hospital: Blotter
Incidents and arrests from the Skokie police blotter from Oct. 9 to Oct. 15

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. Readers are reminded that everyone arrested is presumed to be innocent unless their guilt is established beyond a reasonable doubt, and criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.

STOLEN CAR
A car was reported stolen from the 4800 block of Grove Street between 9 p.m. on Oct. 7 and 11 a.m. on Oct. 8.
CAR BURGLARIES

- A window was smashed and belongings were stolen from a car parked in the 5300 block of Old Orchard Road between 3:45 and 5:45 p.m. on Oct. 8.
- Someone burglarized a car parked in the 8600 block of Kedvale Avenue between 8 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 6:45 a.m. on Oct. 10, stealing a laptop and a watch.
- A car parked in the 9700 block of Karlov Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 and 7 a.m. on Oct. 10.
- A car burglary reportedly occurred in the 9700 block of Skokie Boulevard between 10 p.m. on Oct. 9 and noon on Oct. 10.
- Someone burglarized a car parked in the 5100 block of Brown Street around 4:35 p.m. on Oct. 10.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE/CRIMINAL DAMAGE
Around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 8, someone grabbed a person's cell phone and threw it on the ground repeatedly in the 5300 block of Coyle Avenue, breaking it as they attempted to report an incident of domestic violence. No charges were filed.
BATTERY
An incident of battery and disorderly conduct occurred around 7:45 a.m. on Oct. 9 in the 4500 block of Oakton Street. Police did not disclose any further details.
TRESPASSING
Someone was found sleeping inside a hotel room while it was under construction around 9 a.m. on Oct. 10 in the 5300 block of Touhy Avenue.
THEFT
Someone stole a wallet from a duffel bag inside a locker at the Lifetime Fitness, 5330 Old Orchard Road, between 10:30 and 11:50 a.m. on Oct. 10.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident in the 8000 block of Keating Avenue reported that someone got into their apartment and stole various items between 10 a.m. and 2:09 p.m. on Oct. 10.

ARRESTS
Porche D. Reed, 27, of the 5700 block of South Morgan Street in Chicago, was arrested around 7:30 p.m. on Oct. 9 and charged with retail theft from the Old Orchard Macy's store earlier that evening.
Kevin Salinas, 24, of the 4800 block of North Kentucky Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 9:15 p.m. on Oct. 9 in the 3400 block of West Touhy Avenue and charged with endangering the life or health of a child.

Mary Valsa, 73, of the 5800 block of North Kenton Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 3:10 p.m. on Oct. 11 and charged with battery at Skokie Hospital.
Malgorzata Sobczyk, 51, of the 1700 block of West Estes Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 5:50 p.m. on Oct. 11 and charged with retail theft at the Old Orchard Shopping Center.
Anurag Singh, 41, of the 9700 block of South Kolmar Avenue in Oak Lawn, was arrested around 11:35 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with theft of more than $500.
Reilly G. Jose, 25, of the 5600 block of North Christiana Avenue in Chicago, was arrested around 11:40 a.m. on Oct. 12 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with two counts of theft of less than $500.
Benjamin A. Ruiz, 35, of the 8300 block of Keystone Avenue in Skokie, was arrested around 6:30 p.m. on Oct. 12 in the 4800 block of Oakton Street and charged with endangering the life or health of a child.
Joshua A. Viruet, 27, of the 9000 block of West Heathwood Circle in Niles, was arrested around 12:06 a.m. on Oct. 14 in the 7800 block of Niles Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Joshua L. Craft, 38, of the 2100 block of South Tonne Drive in Arlington Heights, was arrested around 4 a.m. on Oct. 15 at a gas station in the 5100 block of West Dempster Street and charged with aggravated driving under the influence of alcohol, damaging property, driving with a suspended or revoked license and several traffic citations after police were called to a crash where Craft reporteldy struck a person in the lot, a gas pump and two vehicles.
Montrell D. Baylock, 35, of the 9200 block of Linder Avenue in Morton Grove, was arrested around 4:19 p.m. on Oct. 15 at the Dempster Street CTA Yellow Line station and charged with retail theft.
