Altruism, Empathy, and Social Engagement: How U.S. and EHS Compare
Katie will describe altruism, empathy, and social engagement among the adult U.S. population and compare to EHS membership survey results.

On July 26th, Katie Merrell, Society member and senior research scientist at Social & Scientific Systems, presents “Altruism, Empathy, and Social Engagement: How U.S. and EHS Compare.”
Katie will describe altruism, empathy, and social engagement among the adult U.S. population, as captured by the General Social Survey, which conducts basic scientific research on the structure and development of American society with a data-collection program designed to both monitor societal change within the United States and to compare the United States to other nations. She will compare the U.S. population to our own Ethical Society membership, based on members’ responses to several GSS questions.
