Burglars Snatch Rare, Antique Coins In Break-In: Skokie Blotter
Skokie Police Blotter: April 10 - April 16
SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
COMMERCIAL BURGLARY
Two unidentified burglars broke out the front glass door of a coin shop in the 4500 block of Oakton Street around 3:45 a.m. on April 10 and stole rare and antique coins from glass cases.

STOLEN CAR
Someone stole a car from the 4300 block of Keeney Street around 6:30 a.m. on April 10.
STOLEN CAR FOUND
A stolen car was recovered in the 8200 block of Keating Avenue around 7:50 a.m. on April 10.

THEFT
A resident in the 4900 block of Lunt Avenue reported between 3 p.m. on April 2 and 4:50 p.m. on April 10 that her friend took $4,700 after cashing a check.
THEFT
A person known to the victim stole more than $500 worth of items from an apartment in the 7600 block of Lincoln Avenue.
STOLEN TRAILER
A business in the 4800 block of Old Orchard Center someone stole an unattended trailer from the parking lot of Lord & Taylor around 11:40 a.m. on April 11.
STOLEN CAR
A resident in the 3300 block of Crain Street reported that an identified person had reportedly stolen a car and was refusing to return it.
HOME BURGLARY
A resident of the 3800 block of Jarvis Avenue reported that someone had tried to break in around 4:52 p.m. on April 11.
PACKAGE THEFT
A resident in the 5400 block of Grove Street reported that someone stole a package as it a was being delivered shortly before 10 a.m. on April 11.
IDENTITY THEFT
A resident in the 5300 block of Lincoln Avenue reported that someone stole a lost wallet and tried to make various purchases between 3 p.m. on April 6 and 6 a.m. on April 7.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
A domestic battery and aggravated assault was reported in the 4700 block of Main Street around 7:16 p.m. on April 12.
AGGRAVATED CRIMINAL SEXUAL ABUSE
An incident of sexual abuse in the 8600 block of Kimball Avenue was reported by the Illinois Department of Children and Family Services shortly before 4:15 p.m. on April 12.
FARE THEFT
A taxicab driver reported that passengers left without paying a far in the 9100 block of Kildare Avenue between 8:47 and 10:15 p.m. on April 13.
HIT-AND-RUN
A silver Acura struck a silver Toyota Corolla as it was turning left from southbound Skokie Boulevard to eastbound Dempster Street sometime after 5 p.m. on April 14. The Toyota did not stop and kept going down Dempster.
AGGRAVATED ASSAULT
An incident of aggravated assault and criminal damage to property was reported between 11:40 p.m. on April 15 and 12:25 a.m. on April 16 in the 4000 block of Dempster Street.
AGGRAVATED BATTERY
Someone was struck in the face with a closed fist in the 9600 block of Kenton Avenue around 2:19 p.m. on April 16.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Unlocked car in the 7900 block of Kildare Avenue around 12:26 a.m. on April 10
- A car in the 8300 block of Tripp Avenue was reportedly burglarized between 6:15 p.m. on April 9 and 12:57 a.m. on April 10
- A car in the 8000 block of Kildare Avenue was reportedly burglarized around 12:44 a.m. on April 10
- Someone stole parts from a car parked in the 4800 block of Mulford Street between 5:30 and 8 a.m. on April 7
- Someone burglarized three vehicles parked in the 4200 block of Main STreet between 6 p.m. on April 9 and 6:43 a.m. on April 10
- Someone burglarized two vehicles in the 4000 block of Lee Street between 5 p.m. on April 9 and 1:30 p.m. on April 10.
ARRESTS
Michael Edward McKenna, 34, of the 900 block of Glenwood Road in Glenview, was arrested at 5:53 p.m. on April 10 at the Skokie Hospital on an in-state warrant.
Eliazar S. Valdez, 38, of the 2800 block of West Leland Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 11:31 p.m. on April 11 in the 4300 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and driving under the influence.
Adriana L. Ramos, 26, of the 2100 block of Touhy Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 11:35 p.m. on April 11 at the Skokie Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with retail theft in connection with an incident earlier that night.
Kayode Khaaliq Bakinson-Alaran, 23, of the 7300 block of North Sheridan Road in Chicago, was arrested at 8:31 p.m. on April 13 at the Old Orchard Macy's and charged with retail theft.
Richard J. Milsztajn, 43, of the 0-100 block of West Huron in Chicago, was arrested at 8:20 p.m. on April 13 in the 8700 block of Crawford Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08 and driving under the influence.
Christine A. Rabulan, 30, of the 8800 block of Kenneth Terrace in Skokie, was arrested at 9:27 p.m. on April 15 in the 8800 block of Kilpatrick Avenue on an in-state warrant and also charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license. She was arrested again for a suspended or revoked license around 6 p.m. on April 17 in the 9000 block of Gross Point Road.
David M. Vicente, 32, of the 5800 block of North Artesian Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 11:19 p.m. on April 17 at the Skokie Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with forgery, a felony, and an in-state warrant.

Vicente was held at the Cook County Jail on two separate bonds – for $100,000 and $20,000 – ahead of a May 11 court date.
Robert Banyamin Canoon, 29, of the 6300 block of North Sacramento Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 1 p.m. on April 17 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with battery.
