Axe-Wielding Attacker Accused Of Assault, Battery: Skokie Crimes

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Readers are reminded an arrest is not an indication of guilt and criminal charges represent merely accusations that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
BATTERY
A fight over the use of a machine in a laundry room in the 8700 block of Skokie Boulevard around 9:30 p.m. on March 24 resulted in a report of a battery.

UNLAWFUL USE OF WEAPONS
One person was arrested following an incident reported around 2:40 p.m. on March 25 in the 9100 block of Niles Center Road involving the unlawful use of a weapon, violation of an order of protection, unauthorized videotaping and live video transmission and felony possession of more than 100 grams of suspected cannabis. Police declined to release the identity of the person arrested in the absence of a public records request, which Patch has filed.
STOLEN DOG
Somone reportedly stole a dog from a resident in the 9000 block of Lamon Avenue around 10 a.m. on March 18.

CAR/GARAGE BURGLARY
Someone got into a car parked in the 3900 block of Salem Lane and found a garage door opener inside between 2:45 and 3 a.m. on March 26. The remote was used to open up a garage, but nothing appeared to have been stolen or disturbed.
CAR BURGLARIES
- Someone stole property from an unlocked car parked in the 3400 block of Howard Street sometime before 3:22 p.m. on March 26.
- Unlocked cars in the 7000 and 8000 block of Salem Circle were reportedly entered during the early morning hours of March 26.
- Someone burglarized a car in the 7700 block of Kilbourn Avenue between 7 p.m. on march 26 and 3:27 p.m. on March 27.
- People rummaged through three unlocked cars in the 7500 block of Tripp Avenue, one in the 7400 block of Kenton Avenue, during the overnight hours of March 26 to 27.
- Someone burglarized a car in the 8900 block of Central Park between March 22 and March 31.
- A car parked in the 5300 block of Williamsburg Road was reportedly burglarized between 7 p.m. on march 30 and 6 a.m. on March 31.
- Someone burglarized a car in the 8900 block of Forestview Road between 6 p.m. on March 30 and 10 a.m. on March 31.
STOLEN CARS
- An unspecified vehicle was stolen from the 7700 block of Kilbourne Avenue between 7 p.m. on March 26 and 6:12 a.m. on March 27. Police did not provide further details.
- Someone stole an unspecified vehicle from the 4800 block of Jarvis Avenue between 4:51 and 6:14 a.m. on March 27. It was later recovered.
FORGERY
An incident of forgery was reported at the Goodwill store in the 5500 block of Touhy Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. on March 27.
ASSAULT/DISORDERLY
A known person assaulted and caused fear and alarm to someone in the 3400 block of Touhy Avenue shortly after 3 p.m.
SCAM
A resident in the 5000 block of Crain Street reported that someone had contacted them about a computer warranty and scammed them out of money.
SHOPLIFTING
Three juveniles were arrested after stealing merchandise from the Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue between 9:30 and 10:30 p.m. on March 28.
WATCH THEFT
Someone stole 10 wrist watches from the Coach store at the Old Orchard Shopping Center. The suspect was described as a slim, clean shaven, 6-foot, 2-inches to 6-foot, 3-inches black man between 35 and 45 years of age with a dark complexion wearing a black jacket, black pants, and a black wrist watches.
ARSON
Someone set fire to a garbage can on Skokie Park District property in the 9400 block of Kenton Avenue around 8 p.m. on March 29. No information about the arsonist was available.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone tried to break into a home in the 4400 block of Howard Street between March 24 and March 28.
IDENTITY THEFT
Someone stole a wallet from a purse in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard between 4 and 5 p.m. on March 31 and later used its contents fraudulently.
ARRESTS
Rukyia S. Parker, 24, of the 200 block of West 91st Street in Chicago, was arrested at 6:32 p.m. on March 26 at the Old Orchard Shopping Center on an in-state warrant for an unspecified offense from an unspecified jurisdiction.
John F. Kucharik, 70, of the 5700 block of North Rogers Avenue in Chicago, was arrested at 2:10 a.m. on March 27 in the 7500 block of Laramie Avenue on an in-state warrant for an unspecified offense from an unspecified jurisdiction.
Sheena L. Turner, 33, of the 2700 block of West 25th Street in Chicago, was arrested at 10:43 p.m. on March 27 and charged with theft at the Skokie Walmart in the 3600 block of Touhy Avenue.
Mark A. Ali, 36, of the 4800 block of Greenleaf Street in Skokie, was arrested at 3:45 p.m. on March 28 at the Clark's Shoes at Old Orchard Shopping Center and charged with retail theft.
Jermaine T. Sheppard, 24, of the 300 block of West Lakeside Drive in Vernon Hills, was arrested at 5:44 p.m. on March 28 in the 7700 block of Lincoln Avenue and charged with criminal damage and criminal trespassing to property.
Khaled E. Yehia, 21, of the 1000 block of Ridge Avenue in Evanston, was arrested around 1 a.m. on March 29 at his home and charged with battery and aggravated assault. Police said he had punched someone in the head and face multiple times while armed with an axe around 8:30 p.m. on March 2 in the 4000 block of Dempster Street.
Sabina S. Hyderi, 44, of the 9300 block of Skokie Boulevard in Skokie, was arrested at 10:22 p.m. on March 29 outside her home and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08.
Xavier W. Washington, 21, of the 400 block of Round Rock Drive in Cedar Hill, Texas was arrested at 11:33 a.m. on March 30 in the 3400 block of Touhy Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Juan F. Campos, 26, of the 3800 block of West 71st Street in Chicago, was arrested at 5:10 a.m. on March 31 near the intersection of the southbound Edens Expressway and Touhy Avenue and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and with a blood alcohol concentration above 0.08.
Jorge F. Popolo, 62, of the 5200 block of North Kimball Avenue in Chicago, was arrested in the 7200 block of Cicero Avenue shortly after 4 p.m. on March 31 and charged with battery. Police said it resulted from a road rage incident.
A 24-year-old Chicago man was arrested at 7:49 p.m. on April 1 in the 4500 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving with a suspended or revoked license.
