Carjacking At Old Orchard; Arson, Robbery Arrests: Blotter

SKOKIE, IL — The following information comes from the Skokie Police Department as a record of those recently arrested and of incidents reported to the police. Updated information may be available from the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court. An arrest is not evidence of guilt, and criminal charges represent accusations by the state that are often dropped or reduced.
INCIDENTS
INSIDER THEFT
On Feb. 5, staff at the Nordstrom Rack, 9625 Skokie Blvd., told police they discovered of a theft by an employee occurred between Jan. 9 and Jan. 18.
SEX ASSAULT
A criminal sexual assault reportedly occurred in the 5200 block of Howard Street between 9:15 p.m. on Feb. 10 and 2:45 p.m. on Feb. 11:

CARJACKING
An aggravated vehicular hijacking occurred in the 4900 block of Old Orchard Center shortly before 9 p.m. on Feb. 12, police were told.
HOME BURGLARY
Someone broke open the south door of a home in the 7600 block of Lockwood Avenue and got in between 1:45 and 3:45 p.m. on Feb. 13. Two rings were reported stolen.

BATTERY
An employee in the 9500 block of Skokie Boulevard reported that his supervisor head-butted him around 10 a.m. on Feb. 14.
STOLEN CARS
- Someone stole a car from the 9000 block of Gross Point Road between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 10, police were told.
- A stolen car was reported in the 8400 block of Niles Center Road between 4:15 a.m. on Jan. 29 and 2 p.m. on Feb. 11.
ROBBERIES
- A group of teenagers attacked a person after he got off the bus in the 3500 block of Touhy Avenue around 5:15 p.m. on Feb. 4, punching him, kicking him and taking his phone.
- A vehicular invasion, aggravated battery and armed robbery was reported in the 9600 block of Gross Point Road around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 10.

ARRESTS
Mergim Mehmeti, 25, of the 9000 block of Lamon Avenue, Skokie, was arrested around 7:30 a.m. on Feb. 4 at his apartment and charged with robbery.
Azat Dostanov, 30, of the 9700 block of Woods Drive, Skokie, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 5 at his apartment building and charged with arson.
Jovanny Vazquez, 20, of the 1500 block of West Highland Avenue, Chicago, was arrested on the afternoon of Feb. 5 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with reckless driving, driving with a suspended or revoked license, speeding 26 to 34 mph above the limit and two counts of fleeing police.
Raul Miranda, 20, of the 1200 block of West Cleveland Avenue, Evanston, was arrested around 11:45 p.m. on Feb. 6 in the 8800 block of Lamon Avenue.
Javon Readus, 22, of the 2400 block of East 73rd Street, Chicago, Darnell Lamont Wilson, 21, of the 7900 block of South Sangamon Street, Chicago, and Diontes S. Dorch, 25, of the 5200 block of South Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Chicago, were arrested around 1:45 p.m. on Feb. 7 and charged with possession of someone else's credit, debit or identification card and obstructing justice. Dorch was also charged with fleeing police and pocket picking after police said he stole a wallet from the jacket pocket of a customer in the 9600 block of Skokie Boulevard. Readus was arrested in the 9000 block of Bronx Avenue, while Dorch and Wilson were arrested in the 9000 block of Lavergne Avenue.
Jose E. Aparicio, 26, of the 7600 block of Sheridan Road, Chicago, was arrested around 2:15 a.m. on Feb. 8 in the 4400 block of Dempster Street.
Kendall G.D. Robinson, 27, of the 5800 block of West Rice Street, Chicago, was arrested around 3:30 a.m. on Feb. 9 in the 2400 block of Oakton Street and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving under the influence of alcohol with a breath alcohol concentration of 0.08 or greater.
Renato Riveria, 20, of the 8200 block of Kilpatrick Avenue, Skokie, was arrested around 9 a.m. on Feb. 10 in the 4800 block of Oakton Street and charged with assault.
Charles M. Lyons, 26, of the 7300 block of South Vincennes Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 7 p.m. on Feb. 10 at the Skokie Police Department and charged with robbery.
Christopher N. Smith, 43, of the 5000 block of North Winthrop Avenue, Chicago, was arrested around 12:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 in the 4800 block of Greenleaf Street and charged with robbery, domestic battery and criminal damage to property.
Justin D. Davis, 29, of the 300 block of Forest Boulevard, Park Forest, was arrested around 10:30 a.m. on Feb. 11 in the 3600 block of Howard Street and charged with theft of more than $500.
