Clean, Green Skokie! was a Great Success!

The Clean, Green Skokie! program really cleaned up this year! The event focused on pride in the community and collaborated efforts for a good old-fashioned neighborhood litter cleanup. The program took place from April 10 through April 24, 2016. The Village created clean up kits for registered participants that were picked up at the Spring Greening event at Niles North or at Skokie Village Hall. Over 20 individuals and groups registered for the 2016 Clean, Green Skokie! initiative and about 145 adults and over 180 children participated. Additionally, over 100 bags of refuse and recycling were collected, totaling approximately over 700 gallons.

Clean, Green Skokie! participants were automatically entered for a chance to have a tree planted in their honor at the Skokie Northshore Sculpture Park. Their chances were increased with five extra entries when a photo was taken and tweeted to #cleangreenskokie or posted to Facebook with a tag to Shop Local Skokie.

We’re excited to share that the TJM (Temple Judea Mizpah) Players won the random drawing and a tree will be planted in their honor this summer!
