D219 Students Win at German High School Day Competition
This is the second year in a row that Niles North has won first place in the coveted Skit category
D219 students competed February 24 at the annual German High School Day at the University of Illinois at Chicago and won first and second prizes.
The three best entries in eight categories received awards.
Sam Hirsch from Niles North won first place for his tour of Salzburg, Austria as given by a young Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Nick Slater from Niles North won second place in the Spelling Bee. Camille Rowe from Niles West won second place for her poetry recitation of the Sorcerer’s Apprentice by Johann Wolfgang von Goethe. Melissa Doyiakos from Niles North received first place for a German comedy skit she wrote about a meeting between President Trump and Chancellor Merkel. The skit was performed by Jonathon Redmann, Melissa Doyaikos, Amreen Ali , Shlimon Shlimon and Tessa Toth, all from Niles North. This is the second year in a row that Niles North has won first place in the coveted Skit category.
