D'Amico Votes to Keep Public Safety Services Running
State Rep. D'Amico voted on Wednesday Dec. 2, to keep public safety services running to protect our families and neighbors.

SPRINGFIELD – Continuing his efforts to find a balanced approach to resolving the state’s outstanding budget questions on behalf of the seniors, middle-class families and residents in need, state Rep. John D’Amico, D-Chicago, voted Wednesday to release funds to keep 9-1-1 services open, roads safe and families out of the dangerous cold.
“Today, I helped move our state in the right direction toward a balanced approach for the budget and for the thousands of Illinois families that rely on the vital services it funds,” D’Amico said. “When we talk about these programs, we are talking about our neighbors, loved ones and people in need, and we cannot ignore the tremendous impact these funds have on their lives and safety.”
As part of a bipartisan coalition, D’Amico voted Wednesday to pass Senate Bill 2039 to release funds to local governments, provide for domestic violence, and pay for a full year of low-income energy assistance funding for struggling families trying to keep warm for the upcoming cold winter months. These funds will cover critical public safety services such as statewide 9-1-1 programs, state police investigations and laboratories, and road maintenance upkeep to ensure residents travel safely for the changing seasons. This measure needs the approval of the Senate and the governor to become law.

“Those who have blocked these vital programs have finally listened and joined our efforts to protect Illinois’ most vulnerable citizens, the elderly and middle-class families,” D’Amico said. “I will continue to push for a complete and balanced budget to be resolved as quickly as possible so that families, small businesses and the next generation can rely on the state and the assistance they need.”
