Franciscan Works Benefit Providing Scholarships for Liberian Children

Skokie Nonprofit, Franciscan Works, to Hold Benefit for Liberia Mission School Confined by Ebola Epidemic

Franciscan Works will host its first benefit, Children of Hope, on Thursday, October 9, 6-9 p.m. at the Galleria Marchetti. The dinner and silent auction are focused on raising monies for scholarships for ten of the mission’s children as they move to college, the next phase of their educational journey.  All were educated at the group’s Liberia Mission, now in its 11th year of operation.  Some 400 poor and orphaned children, victims of Liberia’s long Civil war, are educated at the Mission, as future leaders of their country.

Emmy award winner and NBC Chicago Health Reporter, Nesita Kwan, will serve as Master of Ceremonies.  A deluxe Hawaiian vacation is among the exciting auction items, along with African entertainment by the Umoja People, an eclectic group of performers whose performances include rhythm, spoken word, jazz and drums.

Tickets are $75 per person.  For tickets and more information, visit http://childrenofhope.franciscanworks.org or call Franciscan Works at 773-809-4008.
